Advancing Innovation in Endocrine Surgery
Learn about the origins, mission, and global community driving technological progress in endocrine surgery
Our Origins
The International Society of Innovative Technologies for Endocrine Surgery (ISITES) was founded from a shared vision among internationally recognized endocrine surgeons who recognized the need for a dedicated forum to explore emerging technologies transforming the field. Initial discussions centered on the clinical application of parathyroid autofluorescence, bringing together surgeons, a pioneering engineer–scientist, and industry partners united by a common goal: advancing innovation to improve patient care.
These early collaborations led to the first international symposium in Geneva, Switzerland in 2019 and laid the foundation for a growing global community committed to advancing technological innovation in endocrine surgery.
While the society’s origins were rooted in parathyroid autofluorescence, its mission has since expanded to encompass a broad range of emerging technologies—including advanced optical imaging, ICG fluorescence, robotics, artificial intelligence, and other transformative innovations shaping the future of endocrine surgery.
Today, ISITES brings together surgeons, engineers, scientists, clinicians, and industry leaders from around the world to collaborate, share ideas, and drive innovation that improves the care of patients with endocrine disease.
Our Mission
ISITES mission is to advance endocrine surgery through the responsible development, evaluation, and dissemination of emerging technologies. Our society is committed to:
-
Promoting research that advances understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the human endocrine system
-
Supporting the appropriate and evidence-based adoption of innovative technologies in endocrine surgery
-
Improving the care and outcomes of patients with endocrine surgical diseases through collaboration, education and scientific exchange
